Barbaric!

If you're following the Michael Vick case you can tell this this dude is toast; just can't see him overcoming this one even if he isn't convicted.
That said, I'm starting to think the most interesting part of the story is this fine lawmaker form West Virginia who ripped Vick on the Senate floor. Seriously, is this guy for real???

Na. The most interesting (AND shady) part of this case is Local VA district attorney Gerald Poindexter. I have been following this stroy since it was just a little news blurb in local Newport News media a few months back, and ever since then, have been following it with a hawke eye ever since. Early on, before the FEDS got involved, local news stations took cameras up to Gerald Poindexter's office, or rather, makeshift office (it was a run down old motel room with shutters falling off their hinges, dried paint peeling off the door, and a planter out front that was filled with barren, dry dirt...and maybe a rock or two).

Poindexter hid behind the door and refued to talk to cameras, earily casting a feeling that he was protecting his fellow African brother in Vick. What jumped out at me, when the videos from the local tv station played, was the local official's pick up truck that impounded a bunch of equipment from the Vick compound...was I the ONLY one that noticed the large circular FIGHTING RING that these guys seized at the house?

I mean, for Poindexter to drag his fucking feet for so long should be investigated in and of itself. I was surprised the feds took as long as they did to finally get involved, because had they not, it's likely that Surry County DA, Gerald Poindexter, would have given him a pass.

When first questioned, Vick said he knew nothing of any dogs at the VA house, stating he rarely goes there. However, when asked by local news crews, local pet supply employees claim they see Vick often enough to remember him buying all kinds of dog supplies, including syringes for injecting fighting stimulants. Additionally, a few neighbors claim to have seen Vick at the house enough. That's enough info there to slap either a perjury charge or obstruction of justice on Vick (see Scooter Libby, Martha Stewart, and/or Lil Kim).

next thing you know, PETA rears their head, a dog fighting legend turned informant does an anonymous video interview with ESPN dubbing Vick a "heavyweight" in the dogfighting 'click', and continued local coverage, and the stroy just won't go away, no matter how hard Poindexter tries to drag his feet.

It says right here that Michael Vick will never take a snap in the NFL again, and bet the FARM he won't see a snap in '07.

He's going down, ladies and germs.

The feds have a 95% conviction rate on indictments. They're not in the business of indicting for the fun of it. Like Doc Holiday said of his friend Wyatt Earp, "Make no mistake -- it's not revenge he's after....it's the reckoning". The feds don't give a fuck WHO you are. If you did the crime you will do the time.

They found the 7 carcasses buried in the yards. Autopsy reports and informant stories say Vick and his three accomplices, executed a number of dogs via electrocution, drowning, AND BODY SLAMMING! they body slammed a dog to death because it lacked a strong enough fighting gene...or what these 'industry' cats dubbed "gameness".

PETA will have a BALL with that. And already has.

Over the past month, a lot of the big corporations that stood by Vick and vowed to stand by him stating he desreved 'due process' have sacked ties with him. Nike, Reebok, Sporting Goods Stores, Rawlings just sacked his ass...trust me...these guys all were reluctant to be quick to judge and b/c they have to play the PC card, but the fact that they went ahead and severed ties, AND that the NFL banned him from camp (and reportedly Banks wanted him gone)...

It all adds up to a very bad situation for Vick.

He can hire all the high powered attorneys he wants. The only thing spending big money on an attorney can do for you in a federal case is make sure all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed when you get sentenced...and maybe they can put in a request to have all your civilian clthes washed and neatly folded for you after you get out of jail. Each count is 1-5 years. There are several counts. Not too mention the gambling, and, along with that, tax evasion.

I mean, say Vick doesn't play this year, but is eligible in '09 -- can you REALLY see an NFL team picking him up? The PETA protests, the crowds booing? He'll never play football again. But it doesn't matter, he won't have an oppty to. He'll be in jail.

Too much to write on this. Feel free to hit me up with any questions though.

http://www.profootballtalk.com has a pretty well documented timeling of coverage on it. ESPN, who has flip flopped back and forth, and, in my opinion, lost major credibility because of their protection of Vick, has a few in terviews with dog fighters turned informants that actually faced off against Vick.

Very juicy story...not dog bone juciy but juicy juicy.
